About NSCA

NSCA partners with families to ignite the flame of spiritual, academic, and personal excellence in a Christ-centered environment, so that our graduates will become life-long servants of God.

Our Mission Statement & Core Values

At North Spencer Christian Academy, our mission is grounded in nurturing well-rounded, spiritually mature, and academically excellent students. North Spencer Christian Academy exists to educate for eternity. We believe that true education transcends textbooks — it is the intentional development of character, wisdom, and a lifelong passion to serve God and others. Our core values reflect the foundation upon which we build every learning experience, relationship, and opportunity here at NSCA. Rooted deeply in Scripture, these commitments guide all we do:

Spiritual Excellence

We are dedicated to cultivating a Biblical Worldview in every student. By integrating God’s truth into all dimensions of school life, we help students to reject worldly patterns and renew their minds to see life through God’s perspective.

  • “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” — 2 Corinthians 10:5

  • “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” — Romans 12:2

  • “You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self...to be made new in the attitude of your minds.” — Ephesians 4:22-24

Academic Excellence

We strive to provide an environment where students can excel in every facet of learning, holding them accountable to pursue their best with diligence and integrity. Our goal is to honor God through excellence in study and character.

  • “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” — Colossians 3:23

  • “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.” — 2 Timothy 2:15

Personal Excellence

We intentionally foster Christ-like character development by training both the hearts and minds of our students. Our hope is that they embody Godly wisdom and reflect the humility and love of Jesus in all areas of life.

  • “For who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.” — 1 Corinthians 2:16

  • “In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 2:5

Christ-Centered Environment

We affirm the biblical responsibility entrusted to parents to nurture and educate their children. NSCA supports this vital partnership by working closely with families and their local churches in the spiritual growth and discipleship of our students.

  • “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength...Teach them diligently to your children.” — Deuteronomy 6:5-9

  • “Children, obey your parents...Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.” — Ephesians 6:1-4

Our faculty and staff live out the precepts of Christ daily, serving as mentors who model faith in action for every student.

  • “Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.” — 1 Corinthians 11:1

  • “And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.” — 2 Timothy 2:2

Lifelong Service to God

We model and instill a heart for service that we pray will burn brightly in every student. Our desire is for them to become “flames”—servants of God who passionately serve Him and others throughout their lives.

  • “He makes winds his messengers, flames of fire his servants.” — Psalm 104:4

History of NSCA

Since opening our doors in 1979, NSCA has been committed to nurturing students who grow academically, spiritually, and personally. Over the years, our school has expanded and evolved, always remaining faithful to our mission of equipping young people to live and serve for Christ. Our history is a testament to the enduring partnership between dedicated families, passionate educators, and a supportive church community—all working together to impact lives for God’s glory.

Established

1979

NORTH SPENCER CHRISTIAN ACADEMY was established in February 1979. The membership of Bible Baptist Church of North Spencer unanimously voted to open the Academy in September of 1979 and elected a Board of Education. Mrs. Anita Lockwood, Mrs. Joyce Pasto, Mr. Daniel Wagner, Mrs. Jean Wetherbee, and Mrs. Josephine Wilson served on the first Board under the guidance of Pastor Homer Wetherbee. The doors opened on September 5, 1979, with an enrollment of 28 children in Grades K-6.

Future Growth

1982

Anticipating future growth, the new building was completed in 1982. In September of that year, the doors opened to eighty-five students in grades K-10. In November, a preschool program was started.

First Graduation

1985

The first graduating senior was honored at graduation services in June 1985. The enrollment over the next two years was 100+ including the preschool. All the second-floor classrooms, the science lab, restrooms, gym, stage, and kitchen were completed for use by the 1985-86 school year.

High School Reopened

2010

The high school reopened in 2010. Since then, we have graduated 28 students!
