Frequently Asked Questions
Will there be any tests?
-
Yes - While the structure and frequency of quizzes will be determined by the tutor in collaboration with the CLC Director, formal assessments will take place at the end of each quarter to evaluate academic progress and ensure grade accuracy. These assessments are built into the learning rhythm of the Center and are designed to support, not stress, students. Parents are not required to purchase separate quiz or test booklets unless otherwise specified.
Will there be homework?
-
Yes - This will be an essential part of the hybrid learning model. Homework assignments are thoughtfully introduced during classroom time to ensure the students understand the material before taking it home. This supports independent learning and helps students build responsibility and confidence in their work. On their next class day, students will bring their completed homework, review and correct it in class with the tutor, and then turn it in for a final grade. This process reinforces learning and helps students recognize and correct their own mistakes - a key part of mastery-based education.
Will CLC provide a supply list?
-
Yes - A full list (organized by subject and classroom) will be sent no later than August 1st or at the time of enrollment, whichever comes first. This ensures families have adequate time to prepare before the start of the academic year.
Will there be a curriculum schedule or syllabus? What are parents expected to do at home?
-
Yes - The CLC will provide a clear syllabus outlining what will be taught at CLC and what is expected to be completed at home.
-
Classes will meet Tues/Thurs. Parents will continue the instruction at home on Wednesday and can choose Friday or Monday as their fourth day of instruction using the same curriculum and pacing outlined in the syllabus.
-
The syllabus and lesson plans ensure alignment and consistency, but it is the parents' responsibility to:
-
Review the weekly syllabus and prepare to teach and support lessons during at-home instruction days.
-
Ensure all assignments are completed by the student and turned in on time.
-
Check the Center App for updates on student progress, missing work, and feedback from tutors.
-
Provide space and time for learning at home, helping your child stay on track.
-
Avoid relying on tutors for help outside the scheduled Center days.
-
-
This co-teaching partnership is at the heart of hybrid homeschooling. CLC provides the instructional foundation; parents bring it to life during the rest of the week.

Tutor Role & Responsibilites
At the Community Learning Center, our tutors play an essential role in supporting your child’s educational journey by creating monthly lesson plan guides. These guides are thoughtfully designed to align with your family’s homeschooling goals and provide clear, manageable learning objectives.Starting in the fall, our tutors will implement the lesson plan guides on Tuesdays and Thursdays, offering focused assistance and reinforcing the material at your child’s own pace.
Tutor Role and Responsibilities
It’s important to note that while our tutors provide valuable academic support and guidance, they are not considered formal teachers in the traditional sense. As such, they do not complete or manage any state homeschooling documentation, including Individualized Home Instruction Plans (IHIPs), Letters of Intent (LOIs), or other required paperwork. These responsibilities remain with the homeschooling parents, ensuring that you maintain full control and oversight of your child’s educational compliance. Our goal is to partner closely with families by delivering personalized tutoring support that complements your homeschooling efforts without replacing your role as the primary educator.

Parent Responsibilities & Home Instruction
Parents play a vital role in their child’s homeschooling experience and are responsible for completing all required state paperwork, including any necessary documentation for compliance.
Reinforcing Learning at Home
On days when students are not attending the Community Learning Center, parents are encouraged to actively continue instruction by:
-
Leading discussions to deepen understanding
-
Supervising assignments and daily work
-
Exploring hands-on activities that enrich and expand upon what was introduced during CLC sessions
This active involvement ensures continuity of learning and helps students stay engaged and motivated throughout the week.
Staying on Track
To support your family’s planning and organization, a printed monthly syllabus will be sent home with your student and made available through the Center App. We recommend printing a personal copy of the syllabus and placing it in your homeschool binder for easy access and planning. This syllabus outlines the key objectives and lesson topics for the month, helping both parents and students follow the curriculum closely and maintain steady progress.
Assignment Completion & Progress Monitoring
It is the parents’ responsibility to ensure all assignments are completed and submitted on time. Late or incomplete work not only affects grading but also disrupts classroom flow and group learning. We encourage you to be proactive by checking your student’s progress weekly.
You will receive regular updates from your child’s tutor, including notes on progress, missing work, and specific areas that may require extra attention. Staying engaged with these updates ensures that you can provide the support your student needs to succeed.
Communication Guidelines
Tutors are available to assist during Center class days. Questions or concerns that arise on off-days should primarily be handled at home. Please reach out to tutors only when absolutely necessary, and always check the Center App first for instructions or clarifications that have already been provided.
All communication with CLC staff and tutors should be conducted exclusively through the Center App. Please do not use social media, personal phone calls or texts, or personal email channels for communication to ensure privacy and consistency.

Pick-up & Drop-off Procedures
Drop-Off/Sign In begins between 8:15 AM to 8:30 AM
Procedure:
-
Students are to be dropped off at the front door by a parent/guardian.
-
For the first 2 weeks, parents are allowed to walk their children to their designated classrooms until they are adjusted.
-
After the first 2 weeks, parents are asked to drop their children off at the door, and an administrator will assist the students in getting to their classroom.
-
Students must bring their own packed lunch and a beverage/water bottle.
Pick-Up/Sign Out time is 1:00 PM for Core Classes - unless parents/guardians contact the office early for pick-up. For students taking electives, pick-up is at 3:00 PM
Procedure:
-
All students will gather in the gym by grade and will then be released to their parent/approved guardian.
-
Parents can choose to park in the parking lot and walk to the doors to get their children (ideal for families with multiple children in car seats), or they can opt to use the "drive-up" option, where they can pull up to the doors and the children will walk out to their car.
-
All pick-ups for CLC students are required to be in person. Until staff are familiar with families and are comfortable recognizing parents/guardians, people picking up will be asked to provide ID for verification.
